The Mission House is owned and hosted by Dave & Beth Battle, members of Faith Christian Community church.

Following the Lord’s leading, we moved to Alaska in 1999 from Hendersonville, NC. Being an Alaskan was a life-long dream for Dave, an avid hunter who is blessed to work in wildlife management, and in January 1999 he was hired by the USDA Forest Service for a temporary project on Wrangell Island, AK. Putting all our faith in God, we sold our house, a vehicle, and most of our belongings to buy a used 26-foot RV. We loaded up the RV with our four pets and said goodbye to our families in March 1999 to head to Alaska.

After Dave’s work project ended, we moved on to Juneau where we thought we would settle but the Lord had other plans, eventually taking us to Anchorage. We immediately knew this was where we were meant to be and were blessed to find jobs in our fields.

Being raised in the South, hospitality is in our blood, and we began to dream of hosting study groups and visitors in our home. In November 2001 we purchased a small duplex that already had a tenant. It seemed ideal to someday fulfill our dream of participating in hospitality ministries, perhaps after we had paid off the mortgage. When the tenant moved out in July 2004 we thought we would continue to rent the lower apartment but when God knocks at the door of your heart, you don’t tell him to come back later.

Thanks to the generosity of members from Faith Christian Community church and our family and friends, we were able to completely furnish the downstairs apartment at minimal expense and opened our doors to guests in March 2005. We are not financially supported by any organization or church; this is a ministry of our hearts and we know that the Lord will provide for His purposes. It brings us great joy to be able to open our home for the work of the Lord and play a small part in furthering His kingdom.
